The 20ft Full Open Side container is a specialized engineering solution designed to overcome the loading limitations of traditional end-door units. By utilizing a pillarless side design, the entire 20-foot length of the container can be opened, allowing for the effortless loading of oversized machinery, long-span materials, and high-density pallet loads via forklift.
At Worthy Container, we provide these units primarily in "One-Trip" New condition to ensure the structural integrity of the specialized side-door hinges and the reinforced header beam.

Standard containers rely on side walls for structural support. To allow a 20-foot opening without a center post, the Worthy Container Full Open Side unit is engineered with a massive, reinforced top header beam. This beam is high-tensile CORTEN steel, designed to carry the roof load and prevent sagging, ensuring the side doors remain perfectly aligned even when the container is fully loaded.
The side access consists of a specialized four-door configuration:
Concertina Action: The doors are hinged to fold back against one another. Users can open the left pair, the right pair, or the entire 20-foot span.
Easy-Open Handles: New units feature extended-arm handles on the side doors to reduce the physical force required to break the weather seal.
Secondary Access: Every unit includes the traditional set of double doors on the short end, providing five (5) total points of entry.
Floor: 28mm (1.1") Marine-grade plywood, rot-resistant and TCT certified.
Reinforcement: The steel cross-members (C-channels) under the floor are spaced at narrower intervals than standard units to accommodate the high-point loads of forklifts entering from the side.
Oversized Loading: The only solution for 19-foot pipes, wide industrial generators, or structural steel bundles that cannot be angled through end doors.
Pallet Accessibility: A forklift can access any pallet in the unit directly from the side. This eliminates "Last-In, First-Out" constraints and significantly reduces labor time.
High Cube Clearance: Choosing the High Cube model provides an 8' 1" side-opening height. This is essential for loading tall industrial equipment or installing interior HVAC/Lighting in a workshop conversion.
Architectural Potential: The Full Open Side is the industry's "blank canvas" for pop-up retail, cafes, and exhibition stands, providing an instant 20-foot storefront.
Due to the technical complexity of the bi-fold door system, Worthy Container specializes in New (One-Trip) Open Side units.
Pristine Gaskets: High-grade EPDM rubber seals are fresh and provide a 100% Wind & Water Tight (WWT) environment.
Security: Factory-installed Lock Boxes are fitted to both the side and end doors.
Paint: Coated with high-zinc marine epoxy to prevent corrosion at the hinge points.
Multiple Locking Points: This unit features a higher density of locking bars. To maintain weather-tightness and structural rigidity, all bars must be fully engaged when the unit is closed.
Hinge Care: The 4-door bi-fold system has 12–16 heavy-duty hinges. Worthy Container recommends annual lubrication with marine-grade grease to ensure one-person operation.
Seal Inspection: Ensure the long horizontal gasket at the top of the side doors is kept clear of debris to prevent water bypass during heavy rain.
Warning: Leveling is the most critical factor for Full Open Side containers.
Foundation: A perfectly level, hard-standing surface is mandatory. Without a center pillar, even a 10mm (1/2 inch) slope can cause the frame to "rack" (twist). If the frame twists, the 20-foot header beam will flex, making the bi-fold doors impossible to close or lock.
Support Points: We recommend supporting all four corners plus a leveling block directly under the center of the solid (back) side to prevent frame flex over time.
Delivery: Delivered via Hiab (Crane) Truck. These units are significantly heavier than standard boxes (up to 7,385 lbs). Ensure the ground can support the weight of the truck and its outriggers.
Operating Radius: Ensure you have at least 2.5 meters (8 ft) of clear space on the "door side" for the bi-fold doors to swing fully open.
