Model: 20' Standard & High Cube | Dual-Bay Side Access
Provider: Worthy Container / Web: www.worthycontainer.com
Standard Compliance: ISO 668, ISO 1496-1, CSC Certified
The 20ft Side-Access container with a Center Post is the industrial-strength alternative to the pillarless open-side model. By dividing the 20-foot side into two distinct "bays," each equipped with its own set of double doors, this unit maintains the structural integrity of a standard container while offering massive side-loading capabilities.
At Worthy Container, we recommend this model for clients who require high-density storage, multi-story stacking, or the ability to partition a single unit into two separate, secure storage compartments.

Unlike "Full Open Side" units that rely on a heavy top header, this model features a permanent vertical steel pillar welded into the center of the 20ft side.
Stacking Strength: The center post allows this unit to be stacked in a "fully loaded" state up to 9 units high, identical to standard dry containers.
Frame Rigidity: The post prevents the "racking" or twisting common in pillarless units, making the doors much easier to operate on uneven ground.
The side access consists of two independent sets of double doors:
Independent Access: You can open the front 10ft bay while the rear 10ft bay remains locked. This is ideal for shared storage or for segregating different types of inventory (e.g., fuel storage in one bay, tools in the other).
Cam-Lock Hardware: Each door leaf uses standard heavy-duty galvanized locking bars, providing a familiar and extremely secure closure system.
Standard End Doors: This model also includes the traditional end doors, providing three total access points.
Floor: 28mm Marine-grade plywood with TCT anti-rot treatment.
Cross-members: Reinforced steel C-channels provide the necessary support for heavy pallet jacks and forklifts maneuvering through the side bays.
Segregated Storage: The center post provides an ideal anchor point for an internal partition wall. Worthy Container can supply these units pre-fitted as "Split Units," effectively creating two 10ft storage rooms in one footprint.
High-Traffic Pallet Access: For logistics hubs, pallets can be loaded into either bay without the need to "climb over" cargo at the end of the container.
High Cube Clearance: The High Cube model offers an 8' 1" side-opening height, which is critical for loading tall industrial crates or workshop machinery.
Superior Weatherproofing: Because the doors close against a solid center post rather than another door leaf, the weather seal is exceptionally tight, making it the better choice for high-wind or coastal locations.
New (One-Trip): Pristine condition with factory-installed Lock Boxes on all three sets of doors. High-zinc marine paint ensures long-term protection against corrosion.
Used (Cargo Worthy): Because of the structural center post, these units hold their shape better in the used market. Worthy Container ensures all used units pass a 10-point inspection for seal integrity and floor strength.
Total Security: With three sets of doors, a high-security lock box system is essential. Worthy Container recommends "Keyed Alike" shutter locks for all access points.
Gasket Maintenance: Pay special attention to the vertical gaskets where the doors meet the center post. Keep these areas free of grit and debris to ensure a watertight seal.
Hinge Lubrication: Standard annual greasing of the hinge pins will ensure the heavy steel doors continue to swing 270 degrees with minimal effort.
Foundation: While the center post makes this unit more stable than a pillarless open-side, a level surface is still highly recommended. If the unit is significantly unlevel, the doors may "bind" against the center post.
Support Points: Support should be provided at the four corner castings. For permanent installations, a fifth support point under the center post is recommended.
Delivery: Typically delivered via Hiab (Crane) Truck.
Weight: Approx. 2.8 tons (6,217 lbs) for the High Cube model.
Access: Ensure there is at least 3 meters (10 ft) of clearance on the door side to allow the sets of doors to swing open fully.
